Fulfillment of promises

Dec 21, 2025    Vasiliy Stupin

This Christmas sermon by Pastor Vasyl, “Hope in Waiting,” is based on Luke 2:25–38 and the story of Simeon and Anna. It teaches believers how to wait well — trusting God’s promises, focusing on Christ as salvation itself, and dedicating seasons of waiting to prayer, worship, and obedience.

In a world full of expectations for gifts, answers, and change, Scripture invites us into a deeper kind of waiting — waiting for God. Simeon and Anna show that hope does not fade during long silence but grows stronger when rooted in faith.

Waiting faithfully while trusting God’s promises

Simeon remained righteous and sensitive to the Holy Spirit during centuries of spiritual silence and political oppression. Waiting refined his faith instead of weakening it.

Fixing our eyes on Christ as salvation itself

Simeon declares, “My eyes have seen Your salvation.” Salvation is not a system, but a Person. Jesus is the light to the nations and the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Turning waiting into prayer and worship

Anna transformed decades of loss into faithful worship and prayer. Her waiting produced testimony and joy when she encountered Christ.

Waiting is not wasted time — it is where God shapes the heart.

True hope is found not in changed circumstances, but in Jesus Christ Himself.

Do not confuse God’s silence with His absence

Keep Christ at the center of the Christmas season

Let waiting deepen your prayer life, worship, and obedience
