Don’t Be a Rich Fool: The Parable of the Rich Fool

Jesus tells a story about a man who had everything — except what truly mattered: being rich toward God. This parable (Luke 12:13–21) reminds us that real life is not measured by what we possess but by whom and what we live for.

👉 1. Guard Your Heart Against Greed

Greed is not about money — it’s about trust. When we begin to rely on our possessions instead of God, we lose peace. Christ warns: “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

👉 2. Align Your Desires with God’s Purposes

Wealth itself is not a sin — the problem arises when it becomes our god. In the parable, the man planned for himself but not for eternity. God reminds us: life is short, and everything earthly can be lost in a moment.

👉 3. Invest in Eternal Treasures

To be “rich toward God” means to live generously — to do good, share, and serve. We can’t take our wealth to heaven, but we can “send it ahead” through good works, generosity, and faithfulness to Christ.

✝️ Jesus is the example of true riches. He was rich but became poor for us so that we might become rich in Him.

💬 Ask yourself:

What am I building my life on — barns or God’s Kingdom?

Am I investing my time, energy, and resources in what has eternal value?
