The Separation of the Sheep and the Goats: Nature, Works, and the Expectation of the Lord’s Coming

Nov 16, 2025    Maks Kushnir

This sermon is based on Ezekiel 34 and Matthew 25, highlighting how the Lord cares for His flock, judges with righteousness, separates people according to their true nature, and calls believers to faithfulness, active love, and readiness for Christ’s return.

In Ezekiel, God reveals Himself as the Shepherd who strengthens the weak, seeks the lost, heals the injured, and confronts those who harm others. In Matthew 25, Jesus continues this theme through three parables that reveal spiritual readiness, faithful stewardship, and genuine love toward “the least of these.”

🔹 Key insights:

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins: the necessity of a living relationship with God and spiritual readiness.

The Parable of the Talents: everything God entrusts — life, abilities, opportunities — must be used for His glory.

The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats: God separates people by nature, not appearances; true nature is revealed through acts of love or neglect.

🔹 Main idea:

Works do not create a person's nature — nature expresses itself through works.

No act of love or indifference is forgotten by God (Malachi 3:16).

🔹 Call to action:

Remain faithful to the Shepherd, use what He has entrusted to you, stay connected to Him daily, and live in expectation of Christ’s return.

📖 Key Scriptures:

Ezekiel 34:15–22; Matthew 25:1–46; Malachi 3:16; James 2:14–17.
