Mary and Angel: the Annunciation
This sermon is based on Luke 1:26–38 and explores Mary’s life-changing encounter with God’s messenger. Through this moment, God shows that He enters ordinary places, speaks into ordinary circumstances, and calls ordinary people to extraordinary purposes. The central message: when God speaks and we respond in faith, our hearts can say, “Let it be to me according to Your word.”
🔹 Key insights:
1. God enters our ordinary lives to give them divine purpose.
God chose Nazareth — a small, insignificant village — and Mary, a humble young woman. Likewise, God can meet us in the “Nazareth” of our daily lives: our home, workplace, or routine.
Luke 1:26–27
2. God calls us to trust beyond what is visible.
Mary faced something humanly impossible — conceiving while still a virgin. Yet the angel declared: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Faith does not deny facts; it relies on God’s truth.
Luke 1:34–37; 2 Kings (Elisha’s miracle)
3. God seeks those who respond with trust and humility.
Mary did not negotiate or resist; she simply said, “Behold the servant of the Lord.” True faith obeys even without full understanding.
Luke 1:38
🔹 Call to action:
• Respond with faith, not fear.
Ask yourself: “Where did I choose trust instead of fear today?”
• Say “yes” to God’s Word — the three YES’s:
— YES to God’s promise (Luke 1:37)
— YES to God’s way
— YES to God’s timing
• Receive God’s call with humility.
Pray daily: “Let it be to me according to Your word.”
Take one step this week that requires faith.
🔹 Main idea:
God still meets His people today. He looks for hearts that will answer like Mary — with trust, surrender, and obedience.
